My 600lb Life star Sean Milliken died aged just 29 after becoming “the heaviest man alive” – weighing more than 1,000lbs at his largest weight. The TLC reality star piled on almost 300 pounds in just two months before he died in February 2019.
Sean was warned by doctors he wouldn’t live to see age 30 if he didn’t shift some weight, and tipped the scale at 919lbs when he first appeared on My 600lb Life, seeking Dr Nowzaradan’s help to get healthy. His issues stemmed from a difficult relationship with his father, and his parents divorce when he was only 10 years old.
He explained on the show in 2016: “I would eat and suddenly I felt a lot better. In that moment, nothing else mattered. I felt like my family had fallen apart because of me so I kept going to food to deal with those feelings.”

Though he managed to shed 400lbs with Dr Now’s help on the show, his mum encouraged his unhealthy behaviour away from the cameras and told him to ignore medical instructions. Eventually, Sean gained back even more than he lost and weighed in at 1,003lbs.
In 2017, his mum Renee passed away from kidney failure. In a tragic twist of fate, Hurricane Harvey led to Sean losing many of his worldly possessions when his flat was totally flooded.
Though Renee’s behaviour on the show was questionable, she was described as having “the biggest heart”, and “always stepped up to help anyone”. One friend said: “She helped with the children’s program at her church. She discussed going on the show with her pastor.
“He said they would embarrass her, they would do things to make her look like a terrible person. Her response to him was ‘I would do anything they asked if they help my son’ and as you can see from the show, she lived up to that.”
Two years after his mum died, Sean passed away from complications from an infection, which led him to have a heart attack. His father Matt confirmed: “Sunday he was having problems with his breathing, they were able to resuscitate him and a short time later his heart stopped.”
Matt said his son was a “good man” with a “good heart”. While his neighbour Ashley Boone revealed: “Sean was definitely a loner and kept to himself but once you knew him he opened up and showed his witty side. He was extremely funny, artistic and kind.”

Fans of Sean took to the internet to pay tribute to the star after his tragic death, with one YouTube commenter writing: “There was insurmountable pain in this story. Doctor Now has seen it all. May he continue to do his work as he has helped people that other doctors didn’t wish to consider.”
Someone else penned: “I still say that poor child died of a broken heart.” While a third agreed: “R. I. P. Shawn, please God keep him close to you he needs lots of love, and his mom too.”
