Which laser will I be treated with?

We are extremely proud to be the first clinic in the region to work with the most powerful Alexandrite/ND-YAG laser combination. We did extensive research on the best lasers and came up with Lutronic’s new generation Alexandrite/ND-YAG laser: the Clarity2. The biggest advantage of this most powerful and effective Alexandrite laser in the world is that it is suitable for both thick and thin pigmented hairs. In addition, the ND-YAG laser is the safest and most effective laser method with for dark skin types V and VI. The laser continuously measures the temperature of the skin, preventing unwanted skin reactions.

Why do I choose treatment at The Laser Clinic?

At The Laser Clinic, we are the only ones in the Groningen area with the latest and most effective equipment to remove disruptive facial hair. You will always be treated by a quality registered skin therapist with extensive experience and broad knowledge. This is important because with the wrong equipment or an incompetent practitioner, there is a high risk of complications and damage to the skin. Unfortunately, this is common because laser therapy is not yet a reserved practice in the Netherlands. With us, you are in safe hands.

Is laser hair removal painful?

Laser hair removal is not painful due to special air cooling. No more contact gel is needed. You can feel little warm “pricks” though.

Is the effect permanent?

Yes, the hairs that have been treated stay away. New hairs may develop over time, for example, due to hormonal changes. These hairs occur even when you don’t laser. So we can effectively treat only the hairs present at that time.

What if a few gray/light blonde or red hairs remain?

Unfortunately, no laser has yet been developed that can treat hair without chromophore (color/pigment). Of course, we make every effort to remove these pesky hairs as well. Therefore, for thicker coarse colorless hairs, we offer electric epilation with the Apilus.

The hair reduction you achieve with the Apilus treatment method is a lot lower than with laser therapy. The treatment is also more time-consuming. When you have some gray hairs on your chin combined with dark hairs, we sometimes choose to combine both techniques in one treatment. Unlike laser treatment, electric epilation requires the hairs to grow for several days.

Should I let the hair stand on end?

No, prior to laser treatment you should actually shave the hair as short as possible. You may also do this daily at home. If you do not want to shave yourself, the skin therapist can do it prior to treatment. Note that when undergoing treatment in combination with electric hair removal, the hairs must be several millimeters long.

Can I epilate in between?

No, the treatment is effective only when the hair root is present in the hair follicle. If you epilate in between, the treatment is less effective. Therefore, we strongly advise against this. Do shave daily.

Does shaving create more hair?

This is a persistent fable we often hear. The answer is very clear: no, this is not the case. The hair may feel temporarily harder because the cross-section of the hair is just slightly thicker than the tip.

What do I look like after treatment?

There is no recovery time after laser treatment. Sometimes the skin may be slightly red, but we can camouflage this with an SPF product or Lycogel. You walk out the door as if nothing happened.

Are these treatments also suitable for men?

Absolutely. In men, the demand is usually for tightening the hair and beard line and body hair removal.

Can I be treated during my pregnancy?

No, during pregnancy we do not continue treatment. Purely because there is no research on whether it can be harmful. Safety always comes first!

Other companies are cheaper or promise faster results. How is this possible?

There is a big difference between types of laser equipment, (no) training of practitioners and marketing tricks, making promises that are simply not true. We understand that it is very difficult for a consumer to see the forest for the trees in this.

Tip #1: Does it sound too good to be true? If so, it often is.

Tip 2: Check if your practitioner is listed in the Paramedics Quality Register.

Tip #3: Always ask which laser you are being treated with and whether it has a valid medical CE approval.

We deliberately chose a quality medical laser. This is to ensure the best results, painless and treat all skin types. Thus, the investment is many times higher than of lesser equipment.

How do I know I will be helped by a professional?

At The Laser Clinic, you’re in good hands. You will be treated by an experienced BIG-registered college-educated skin therapist who is registered in the Quality Register Paramedics, NvH and Dala.
